Bead Crochet Basics Beaded bracelets, necklaces, jewelry and more! by Mary Libby Neiman
“If unique is what you seek, make it yourself!
With basic crochet skills and a supply of beads, it’s easy to create jewelry to complement any fashion or occasion. Make it elegant or make it fun, but definitely make it yourself!
Lavish bead crochet emerged in the early 1800’s along with other forms of elaborate needlework. Bead crochet first appeared on the market in the 1830’s.
Apparel and accessories using beaded crochet enjoyed popularity through the 1950’s. The last decade of the 20th century saw a crochet revival which continues today. As artists combine new fiber techniques with old crochet patterns, bead crochet is being reinvented.
Mary Libby Neiman has rated the difficulty of each design in this presentation. Anyone who has mastered the “beginner” projects will successfully complete those rated “easy”. The skilled crafter will enjoy the “intermediate” projects, and find a challenge in the “Experienced” Category.”
